Hawks turn to SCA in bid to enforce top cop’s suspension

The Hawks special crime-fighting unit is to file a petition with the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) after failing in its appeal last week against a High Court decision overturning the suspension of its Kwazulu-Natal head Major General Johan Booysen. Judge Anton van Zyl ruled in the Durban High Court on Wednesday that there was no prospect of a successful appeal against his November 18 ruling that overturned a decision to suspend Booysen amid allegations of fraud.
