A higher self-esteem with regards to body image can cause problems in your romantic relationship.

This is according to findings of a recent Florida University study that explored body image in relation to the number of selfies posted on Instagram and the effects on romantic relationships.

Instagram users were asked to complete an online survey about their body image satisfaction, selfie postings and negative romantic relationship outcomes.

The survey found body image satisfaction was associated with increased Instagram selfie postings, but also with jealousy and arguments.

Psychologist Dr Ingrid Artus said online behaviour was an issue among couples.

"When people react to what their partner posts, they need to ask whether their response is reasonable and rational," she said.
