Cape St Francis fire reignites

After two days of extensive fire fighting‚ the fires that were raging near the holiday town of Cape St Francis since Saturday‚ flared up again today. Kouga municipality spokeswoman Laura-Leigh Randall confirmed on Tuesday afternoon (26/01/16) that the fires at Cape St Francis have flared up again.This after the blaze – which started at about 2pm on Saturday – threatened homes in the area on Sunday but was finally brought under control by Monday morning.Trudi Malan‚ Cape St Francis Civic Association chairwoman‚ said that the R330 road has been closed due to smoke.During the early hours of yesterday‚ about 50 residents were on the frontline‚ aiding weary firefighters by creating firebreaks‚ providing the emergency workers with food and energy drinks‚ and at times even manning the hoses...
