School charges ill pupil R6 to call his guardian

A 15-year-old Durban boy is being billed for using his school's landline phone to contact his guardian when he was ill last week. The boy's aunt claims the Grade 10 Eastbury Secondary School pupil was asked to pay R6 for attempts to contact her when he was not allowed in class because of a contagious eye infection.
