First Lady Tobeka Madiba Zuma on Monday joined fitness enthusiasts exercising on the lawns of the Union Buildings to commemorate National Healthy Lifestyles Day.
Madiba Zuma was joined by celebrities Arthur Mafokate and Criselda Kananda‚ as well as former rugby players and an 81-year-old cancer survivor in an outdoor boot camp run by instructor Floyd Mashego‚ according to a statement by her foundation. Mashego offers free training sessions to the public on lawns of the seat of government in Pretoria at 5:30pm on weekdays.
The Tobeka Madiba Zuma Foundation‚ founded in 2009‚ campaigns for prevention‚ treatment and care of non-communicable diseases.
The Healthy Lifestyles Awareness Day was aimed at tackling and highlighting the dangers of obesity‚ an unhealthy diet‚ smoking‚ abuse of alcohol and physical inactivity as risk factors‚ by promoting health and well-being among individuals‚ communities and populations.
