Maternity matron suspended for alleged racism

A maternity ward matron at Steve Biko Academic Hospital has been suspended over the alleged use of the “k-word”. A terse statement from the Gauteng Department of Health said she “has been suspended with immediate effect while investigations into the matter continue”.“The hospital has appointed an investigation team after racism allegations were levelled against the matron by her colleagues in the unit‚” the statement said.
