UPDATED: Search called off for motorist trapped in flood waters

An operation by police search and rescue divers and emergency services to save a Pretoria man swept off a low water bridge in his car has been called off. Conditions have become too dangerous for the emergency personnel‚ Tshwane emergency services spokesman Johan Pieterse said. Divers had tried to reach the car using inflatable rafts and rope systems‚ but the strong river waters hampered them.
