Police spokesperson Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala said on Sunday that a 19-year-old man had been stabbed to death during a dispute over a woman.

“A 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed by an individual who allegedly accused him of having an affair with his girlfriend."

Gwala said a group of people, including the dead teen's brother, tried to arrest the suspect, 36, when a fight broke out.

“An hour later the community gathered and apprehended the 36-year-old murder suspect. He stabbed the deceased’s brother, who was badly wounded.

“The 36-year-old was assaulted and stabbed to death for killing the 19-year-old and stabbing the brother,” she said.

Gwala said police arrested 16 people.

They would be charged with murder and appear at the Ubombo Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
