At least seven shoppers caught in crossfire during Phoenix cash-in-transit raid

At least seven shoppers have been shot during a cash in transit robbery at a Phoenix shopping complex on Thursday. The head of private security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA)‚ Prem Balram‚ said "several members of the public" were shot at Whitehouse Shopping Centre‚ north of Durban."Heavily armed suspects opened fire on a cash-in-transit vehicle in the busy complex. Shoppers were caught in the crossfire between armed guards and the suspects. Two boxes containing an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen. Suspects fled in the scene in a Nissan X Trail and VW Polo‚" he said."Members of the RUSA‚ the police and several ambulance services are on scene.”A KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Service spokesperson confirmed that paramedics were on scene."Please avoid the area‚" he warned.– TMG Digital/The Times..
