Joburg announces more upgrades to M1 to start in May

Just as Johannesburg road users were “adapting well” to the closure of northbound lanes on the M1 freeway‚ the city announced that construction requiring the shutting of northbound lanes is less than a month away. “The next stage of upgrades to the M1 freeway and bridges in Johannesburg will start in early May‚” Johannesburg Roads Agency’s acting MD Mpho Kau said of work on the busy route.
