Parts of Joburg to be without water on Tuesday

Residents in parts of Johannesburg can expect their taps to run dry from Tuesday.

The city says it will be doing maintenance on its water pipes at a Honeydew reservoir.

The outage is expected to last for nearly 30 hours and will end on Wednesday afternoon.

Spokesperson Hilgard Matthews said: “On 12 April‚ from 9am‚ we will be disrupting water services until 3pm on 13 April. The reason for the water interruption is the fact that Rand Water‚ which supplies water to Johannesburg Water‚ is having to do [maintenance] at the Honeydew reservoir. This means that a new pipe they [fitted] needs to be brought into our reservoir.”

Suburbs that will be affected include Honeydew‚ the Zandspruit Informal settlement‚ Honeydew West‚ parts of Northriding‚ Northgate‚ Northriding‚ Bloubosrand‚ Kya Sand‚ Mogale City‚ Nooitgedacht‚ Cosmo City‚ Lanseria‚ Itsoseng informal settlement‚ Malibongwe Ridge‚ Malatjie Informal settlement‚ Olivedale Clinic‚ Cosmo City Industrial Park‚ Noordhang‚ Jackal Creek‚ Northlands Business and Décor Park.

Water tanks will be placed at the following locations:

- Honeydew West Road and Boundary Road

- Honeydew Police Station

- Jackal Creek Estate

- The Dome at Northgate

- Corner of Aureole Road and Valley Road

- Northlands Décor Park

- Uitval Road and Agnes Road

- Zandspruit Informal Settlement

- Itsoseng Informal Settlement

- Malatjie Informal Settlement
