Arrest after execution-style killing of four at KwaMashu hostel

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of four men at the notorious KwaMashu men’s hostel‚ north of Durban.Police confirmed on Wednesday morning that the man was arrested following an intelligence-driven operation on Monday night.A week before‚ on April 10‚ four men were killed inside their room at the hostel‚ one of the most violence-riddled areas in the city.The four – identified as Lindani Ntshangase‚ 24‚ Mzikhona Mhlongo‚ 24‚ Khanyisani Shandu 25 and Zamokwakhe Mhlongo 33 - were killed execution-style‚ shot in the face and back.“A multi-disciplinary operation led by the Inanda Task Team was conducted in Phoenix‚ with regards to a suspect wanted for questioning. During the operation‚ a 35-year-old man was arrested and found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol with 46 rounds of ammunition‚” said SAPS spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane.The weapon and ammunition will be sent for ballistic testing “to establish if it was used in the killing of four men at the KwaMashu hostel”.The man is expected to appear in court later on Wednesday.Seven people were killed at the hostel complex last week alone. – TMG Digital/Sunday Times..
