‘One rape is one too many‚’ Rhodes VC says

Rhodes University will immediately increase capacity at its harassment office to deal with cases of sexual violence and rape‚ vice-chancellor Dr Sizwe Mabizela said at a press conference on Friday. Mabizela was addressing the media following dramatic protests on the Grahamstown campus this week against what students have called a culture of rape.University management has agreed with most of the student demands raised during the protests."One rape is one too many‚" Mabizela said‚ adding that the university must debunk the “stranger-danger” myth.A task team has been set up to review all policies and protocols regarding sexual violence and rape at Rhodes.A photograph speaks a thousand words.
