If convicted murderer Rajiv Narandas is at home with his mother‚ she should just come out and say so‚ and stop trying to hog the limelight with innuendo about her son’s whereabouts. That’s the word from Veenand Singh's fiancée‚ Bashantha Sannasy.Narandas‚ the Durban socialite convicted of the 2008 murder of 32-year-old Singh outside Shoukara nightclub in Sandton‚ was ordered to hand himself over to Westville Prison last week to start serving a 15-year sentence after his Constitutional Court application was dismissed. But he is nowhere to be found.Sannasy was reacting on Thursday to a cheeky WhatsApp profile status posted by the missing man’s mother‚ Rosanne Narandas. It depicts her standing next to her son in a kitchen‚ holding a newspaper poster featuring a photograph of him and the words “Have you seen him?”"It’s just a cry of attention. If she is not in the media‚ she creates ways to find herself in the media. For me‚ it's not taunting at all‚ because I know where Rajiv is and I know he will be in custody soon‚" Sannasy said. The police‚ the National Prosecuting Authority and the Department of Correctional Services have not responded to requests to confirm that they were‚ in fact‚ aware of Rajiv Narandas' whereabouts.Rosanne Narandas gave her WhatsApp status as: "Yes I have seen him … He is in the kitchen with me." A winking emoticon with its tongue sticking out accompanied the status. The previous day‚ it was just the picture of herself holding the newspaper poster. When asked if her status was a message to indicate that her son was at home with her‚ Rosanne responded: "It is what it says it is. I didn’t say that kitchen is in my house. It's not my kitchen."She refused to comment further. She initially posted a status - "Don’t cry for me Argentina‚ the truth is I never left you" - accompanied by a smiley and the image of a newspaper poster asking "Where is Rajiv?" on Sunday night. The Post newspaper reported on Wednesday that Narandas had undergone surgery for a hernia and had been discharged from hospital into the care of his mother. It quoted a correctional services source saying that KwaZulu-Natal authorities had no authority to incarcerate Narandas as the crime and conviction occurred in Gauteng. The source claimed that Narandas was expected to travel to Johannesburg on Thursday to obtain a court order to be imprisoned in KwaZulu-Natal. - TMG Digital/The Times..
