Power, water, rates hiked

Mayoral committee member for finance Geoffrey Makhubo announced an increase in Johannesburg rates yesterday. He said electricity tariffs would increase by 6.93% and waste removal services by 7.5%. Property rates will increase by 5.9%; water and sewerage and sanitation services by 13.2%.The new tariffs will take effect on July 1.
