KwaZulu-Natal man who raped 14-year-old girl in front of her father sentenced to life

A KwaZulu-Natal man who raped a 14-year-old girl in front of her father‚ has been sentenced to life behind bars.Blessing Linda Khanyile‚ 28‚ was also sentenced to four years for kidnapping the teenager by the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court.Police spokesman Major Shooz Magudulela said that the girl was on her way to her Ohlange home‚ on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast‚ when she was kidnapped by Khanyile in April 2014."He took the victim to his house where he repeatedly raped her. The victim’s father heard that his daughter was kidnapped by the accused and proceeded to his house. On arrival he approached the accused and the accused assaulted him and continued to rape the victim."Magudulela said Khanyile was arrested and charged a few days after the incident.KwaZulu-Natal acting provincial commissioner‚ Major General Bhekinkosi Langa‚ speaking about the sentence handed down on Friday‚ said: “We will continue to protect women and children from rapists and we hope the sentence will send a strong message to other would be rapists who target our vulnerable women and children."..
