Shop owners fearful in the wake of Tshwane riots

Shop owners in and around Mamelodi are living in fear after residents looted their shops. Hafiz Khuram‚ who hails from Pakistan‚ said he doesn't understand the reason behind the looting‚ which started on Monday following the announcement of the ANC’s mayoral candidate for Tshwane.Cope: If Mahlobo knew who planned Tshwane riots‚ why weren’t they arrested?"I want to do business here‚ but I actually think these people don't like us. They want us to go‚" he said.His friend‚ Yishak Wangore from Ethiopia‚ was forced to close his shop on Wednesday after two of his other shops were looted last night.Other shop owners have taken what’s left of their stock to a police station as they fear for the worse.When the TMG Digital team visited one of the looted shops‚ residents could be seen removing electric cables‚ bulbs and crates. They threatened to assault the journalists if they dared taking any pictures of the looting. – TMG Digital
