SA stars limber up for Euro season

We might be only midway through July, but already some of South Africa's overseas stars are looking ahead to the start of their domestic league campaigns this coming weekend. The leagues in Denmark, Poland and Slovakia are set for lift off and before the month is out South Africa's host of top names in Belgium will also be in action.Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Mandla Masango warmed up for the start of his season with Danish side Randers by grabbing a goal in their 2-1 friendly win over Velje.Compatriot Lebogang Phiri has already played two matches in the Europa League, and despite strong rumours linking him with a move to Rapid Vienna in Austria, he remains an integral part of Brondby's line-up.He travels away to Scottish side Hibernian on Thursday in the second qualifying round of the Uefa club competition.There will be a Danish top-flight debut for former Stars of Africa academy forward Surprise Ralani, 28, when newly promoted Lyngby take on champions FC Copenhagen in their league opener on Saturday.Former Ajax Cape Town midfielder Granwald Scott begins his first full season with Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava.He could feature in the Europa League tie at home to Jelgava on Thursday, but also gets his domestic league campaign under way on Sunday against Senica.
