Sisulu promises houses, demise of hostel living

Women living in hostels will soon become official homeowners and be given title deeds for their houses. This promise comes following Human Settlements Minister Lindiwe Sisulu's visit to Mzimhlope women's hostel in Soweto, where she announced the department's plan to eradicate the hostel system.Built in 1970 for women who moved to Johannesburg from the former homelands to work, Mzimhlope is one of the oldest hostels in the township.
