Gang 'preparing hit on robbery witness' foiled by police

Police special units have busted six men who were allegedly on their way to kill a key State witness at his house in Khayelitsha‚ Cape Town. Two firearms were found on the suspects after their vehicle was surrounded by the Khayelitsha tactical response team and Hawks members on Tuesday following intelligence reports of the alleged plot.The men‚ between the ages of 22 and 41‚ are believed to be the friends of a suspect who is being tried for robbery.“On a sting operation the suspects’ vehicle was intercepted along Pama Road in Khayelitsha‚” said Hawks spokesman Captain Lloyd Ramovha.“They are expected to appear at Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Friday for conspiracy to commit murder and possession of illegal firearms-related charges.”The witness will remain under police protection until the trial is complete...
