This Friday is World Orangutan Day, an international day celebrating the beauty of the primate and raising awareness of the threats to the species' survival. To mark the occasion Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire is offering free entry to all red-headed visitors, who will save nearly £20 on the price of a ticket."Please note - we will be letting in people who have naturally red hair, or dyed hair for free," the British zoo noted, but people wearing red wigs will have to pay the £18.95 entry fee.Twycross Zoo has four Bornean orangutans: a 27-year-old male called Batu, females Kibriah, 39, Maliku, 22, and five-year-old Molly, daughter of Maliku and Batu.In the past 60 years the number of orangutans in the wild has fallen by 50%, says the International Union for Conservation of Nature."This rate of decline is expected to continue," said a spokesman for Twycross Zoo.But not everyone is pleased with the promotion. On Facebook, Yasmina Omar said: "As a redhead I find your orangutan promotion degrading and wrong.have you any idea how much gingers are teased?" ..
