One of Bacar's goals when he started his brand in 2008 was to design an accessories range to complement his garments."My business plan included accessories from its inception. My aim is to grow my label to become like other luxury brands," he says. The handbags come in a range of colours: white with a touch of yellow, blue, burnt orange, maroon, and black. They are made of Italian leather, crocodile and python skin and the buckle is gold."I went for a timeless and classic yet casual design."The handbags are versatile and practical.  "You can wear it during the day with the strap or in the evening without the strap to make it more elegant."Unlike many international luxury brands, Bacar's handbags have minimal branding."We always keep our branding as unobtrusive as possible. We want to offer our customers unbranded pieces. They should be impressed by the quality of the product and not just the branding," he says. "There's nothing as heart-warming as having people from home and abroad praise my proudly African brand, even comparing it to some of the best designers globally."Bacar's slogan is: "The essence of every woman's character."He says the handbags were created for sophisticated, powerful, intelligent and well-travelled women.Bacar, who also makes belts and sunglasses, plans to open a shop in Johannesburg soon. The handbags can be purchased for upwards of R7000 at the Taibo Bacar store in Maputo, at the Polana Hotel or visit www.taibobacar.com..
