Don't phone a friend, phone an Aussie

If you're in a tight spot before a job interview and need a reference, call an Australian and they'll "do you a solid", mate. Popular Australian comedy duo, and radio hosts, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, this week pranked a guy known simply as James, asking him to be a personal reference for a Tim Barnard - Blake's pretend persona. In a YouTube video on their official channel, they phone James and ask him for a reference for a man he's never met.Later, "Barnard" calls James, saying he gave a random contact as a reference. He asks James to play along and give him a good reference should the firm call."Yeah, shweet, I'll just say I know you from way back. I got you covered," says a cavalier James. Then Lee then calls from the fake firm, and asks for a reference for Barnard. James launches into a glowing reference. Barnard's been a mate for 10 years from footie, helps the treasurer at the club and "when he says things are going to get done, they get done".At this Lee bursts out laughing and confesses to the prank. Good sport James just laughs. ..
