Man arrested with cocaine worth R1.5 million at OR Tambo International Airport

The South African Revenue Service (Sars) on Monday announced that a man had been nabbed at OR Tambo International Airport with cocaine worth almost R1.5-million.

The arrest was made on Sunday after the man had “initially…indicated he had no luggage”.

“Upon further questioning‚ the traveller admitted to be the owner of a bag that was allegedly handed to him in Sao Paolo‚” Sars spokesman Sandile Memela said.

“A thorough search and scan of the luggage‚ that included the use of a detector dog‚ found three smaller bags that contained cocaine. “The traveller and the cocaine were handed over to SA Police Service for further investigation and possible prosecution.”
