A woman and her pet died in a house fire in Mandeni‚ on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast‚ on Friday morning.
Dylan Meyrick of IPSS Medical Rescue said the fire broke out in the early hours of the morning‚ leaving the occupants trapped inside.
“Upon arrival‚ rescue services found that the house was engulfed in flames. Entry to the house was gained through a window and rescuers managed to rescue one person. Unfortunately a second victim was in a room that was inaccessible due to the fire‚” he said.
“A woman and her dog died in the tragic event.”
A second person‚ the woman’s boyfriend‚ was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. He was in the room where paramedics got into the house.
