Gauteng will review the health ombudsman report to see if there is evidence to charge anyone with murder.

The news comes after Health Ombudsman Malegapuru Makgoba released a damning report into the handling of psychiatric patient care in Gauteng and the discovery of more unidentified bodies.

Makgoba blamed the department for the death of 94 psychiatric patients across the province, leading to the resignation of health MEC Qedani Mahlangu.

City Press reported yesterday that at least 22 bodies of psychiatric patients lay unidentified in Tshwane mortuaries .

"We received inquest dockets last year after families opened cases and now, with the release of the report and media monitoring, we decided to interrogate the report ," said police spokesman Brigadier Mathapelo Peters.
