She will now face a charge of attempted murder.
The 27-year-old mother was arrested in De Doorns on Monday morning.
She is expected to make a court appearance tomorrow.
"The incident occurred at their residence in Makhaza on the morning of 2017-02-05‚ whereafter the suspect fled‚" Captain FC Van Wyk said in a statement.
"Crime against women and children are high on the priority list of the Western Cape police and we will not tolerate such acts of violence to be perpetrated against children in their own homes."
