Australian police have charged four men, including an elderly South African man, after finding cocaine and methamphetamines worth A$186 million hidden in mining equipment thanks to high-tech X-ray equipment.

ABC quoted Australian Federal Police as saying the drugs arrived by sea cargo to Melbourne from South Africa on December 5. They were then moved to Sydney‚ where they were tracked and three men were arrested on February 5. A fourth man was arrested in Melbourne on Wednesday this week.

The drugs were in a seven-inch thick metal crate.

One of the suspects is a 75-year-old South African citizen.

Yusuf Abramjee‚ a well-known SA anti-crime activist‚ tweeted that the man comes from Laudium‚ near Pretoria.
