Elderly missing woman found dead and decomposed

A 75-year-old woman who was reported missing last month has been found dead‚ with her body already decomposing‚ in some bushes outside Makhado‚ Limpopo police said on Thursday.

The night before she went missing‚ Kutama Thali had had an argument with her daughter and threatened to leave their home‚ said Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“The following morning when the daughter woke up‚ surprisingly the mother was missing yet all her belongings were still in place‚” said Ngoepe.

While Thali is from Makhado‚ her body was found in the Mujesi area which is outside Makhado.

It was discovered by a passerby.

“At this stage‚ no foul play is suspected and the inquest case was opened and police investigations are still continuing‚” said Ngoepe.

A post mortem was yet to be conducted to determine what had led to Thali’s death.

In the meantime‚ police urged the local community to give them space to properly probe the matter.

“The SAPS would like to request the local community to remain calm and give us space to investigate this death in full without rushing into wrong conclusions‚” said Ngoepe.
