Two suspects have been arrested after police discovered an illegal cargo of abalone worth millions of rand being transported in a five-ton truck they stopped in Beaufort West in the Western Cape in the early hours of Sunday.

Two suspects have been arrested after police discovered an illegal cargo of abalone worth millions of rand being transported in a five-ton truck they stopped in Beaufort West in the Western Cape in the early hours of Sunday.

“Two suspects aged 37 and 33‚ were arrested‚ approximately 20‚000 units of dried abalone and 155 bags of frozen abalone confiscated‚” police said.

They added that the suspects were expected to appear in the Beaufort West Magistrate’s Court soon.
