"I say no bail to murderers‚ no bail!"

These were the words of slain Eskom employee Thembisile Yende's mother Nesta‚ who spoke outside the Springs Magistrate's Court on Thursday‚ where the man accused of her daughter's murder‚ David Ngwenya‚ applied for bail.

Ngwenya‚ 44‚ will hear on Thursday whether or not he will be granted bail.

Thembisile's mother‚ who broke down when prosecutor Aubrey Classen told the court that Thembisile was strangled and had been hit in the head with an object‚ said she had not been aware how her daughter died.

"What pains me is that she was strangled and hit by an iron rod.

"Nobody told me this before. The only evidence I saw of how my daughter died was her body in the mortuary.

"I say no bail to murderers‚ no bail. Justice must be served‚" Nesta said.

She said she and her daughter were best friends and shared everything.

"I know everyone at Eskom [who worked with Thembisile]"

Nesta said she was still looking for answers about her daughter’s murder. She said she wanted to know when her daughter was killed ‘because the date in her death certificate is wrong".

Thirty-year-old Yende was found dead in her office an Eskom substation in Springs‚ 13 days after she had gone missing.

She had been working at the power utility as a trainee technician since 2015.
