Remains of late anti-apartheid activist Archie Sibeko arrive in East London

The remains of the late MK commander‚ trade unionist and ANC leader Archie Sibeko were welcomed at East London Airport on Thursday.

Sibeko died in the UK on March 27 at the age of 90.

Among those present were MKMVA leader Snuki Zikalala‚ former NPA boss Advocate Vusi Pikoli and ANC provincial chairman Oscar Mabuyane.

A small service to welcome the body was under way at the cargo section of the airport on Thursday afternoon.

ANC chairman in Dr WB Rubusana Xola Pakati said the region was grateful Sibeko's body had arrived home. He said the variety of people at the welcoming service was a reflection of Sibeko's personality. He described Sibeko as the embodiment of the ANC.
