CORRECTION & apology

In a previous version of this article, an image was used of ward councillor Mvuzo Mbelekane who was quoted in the article, but who was otherwise unconnected to the events in the report. This image has since been removed and all social media surrounding it deleted.

Here is the original article:

One person was necklaced with a burning tyre in Wells Estate‚ Port Elizabeth‚ on Tuesday after a group of suspected car thieves were apprehended by angry residents.

According to HeraldLIVE‚ ward councillor Mvuzo Mbelekane said he had received reports from residents on the ground that two people had been set on fire but police spokesman Constable Mncedi Mbombo said that‚ at this stage‚ he could only confirm one person had been set alight with a burning tyre.
