Three people have been killed and several others injured on Thursday following a collision between a taxi and a truck on Houtkop Road in Sebokeng.

Paramedics arrived on the scene at 07h30 to find the provincial services already attending to some of the patients. A truck was stationed in the middle of the road while a wrecked taxi was found on the opposite side.

The paramedics found the bodies of two men and a woman lying trapped inside the taxi. Unfortunately‚ all three patients had already succumbed to their numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead‚ said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

Three other people were found injured and in a critical condition‚ while several others had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The patients were provided with advanced life support interventions. One of the critically injured patients was airlifted to a nearby hospital by helicopter.

The remaining two critically injured‚ as well as five others‚ were transported to nearby hospitals. Provincial services transported several others to various hospitals.
