A lawyer from a top legal firm in Sandton is linked to a video in which a man is seen dumping a dead dog on the side of the road.

The video‚ shared by social media users‚ shows a man alighting from his vehicle‚ opening the boot‚ taking out the dog and dumping it on the road.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Sandton described this act as “heartless”.

“At this point‚ the cause of death of the dog is unknown. The carcass will be sent for a post-mortem‚” said SPCA Sandton spokesperson Jaco Pieterse.

He said the details of the man have been traced from his car registration number‚ which is visible in the CCTV footage.

Without naming him‚ Pieterse said he is from "one of the big law firms".

“An urgent meeting has been requested by the Sandton SPCA with the alleged perpetrator to discuss this matter."

The SPCA could consider bringing criminal charges‚ among various possible interventions.

Pieterse said the SPCA would provide an update regarding the incident later on Thursday.
