Hospital workers from Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg on the East Rand embarked on a protest on Friday.

One person took to Twitter to express frustration at the situation.

"So everyday this week I’m always getting stuck inside this government hospitals coz of strikes today it’s Thambo Memorial [sic]‚" the tweet read.

The protest action comes a day after hospital workers from Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg went on strike‚ demanding that they were paid their bonuses dating back from 2017. The group trashed parts of the hospital and turned back some patients.

It was not immediately clear whether the protest at Tambo Memorial Hospital was related to bonuses. TimesLIVE has reached out to the department of health for comment on the situation at the hospital.

This is a developing story.
