Carnage on KZN roads leaves scores dead and injured

Ten people died on KwaZulu-Natal roads in separate incidents on Friday night.

KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesman Robert McKenzie said crashes in various parts of the province had claimed the lives of ten people‚ six of which died in one accident.

"Last night on the R103 near Midmar Dam‚ there was a serious crash involving two vehicles.

"Tragically six people sustained fatal injuries in the crash‚" McKenzie said.

Emergency services also had their hands full early on Saturday morning when a bus crashed as it was travelling towards Durban.

Rescue Care spokesman Garrith Jamieson said 35 people had suffered injuries.

The accident took place around 4am as the bus was entering the city.

A few hours later a taxi crash in central Durban resulted in multiple injuries.
