A search is underway for a light aircraft which didn’t arrive as scheduled in St Lucia on Wednesday night.

It is understood that an ultralight aircraft, which had taken off in Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal earlier in the day‚ did not arrive in the northern coastal town as planned.

The aircraft‚ with the call sign ZU-PCB‚ is thought to be missing somewhere between the two airstrips.

Air traffic control officials‚ alongside search and rescue teams‚ are currently formulating a search plan.

This is a developing story.
