The crime statistics for 2017/2018 were released on September 11 2018.

Cash-in-transit robberies in Gauteng alone totalled 80 cases. This is a jump of 142.4% from the previous year.

The majority of the heists occurred on roads, with security guards constituting the majority of fatalities across all the heists nationally.
