Prosecutor bust taking bribe to destroy evidence in murder case

A prosecutor arrested on suspicion of corruption and extortion - after allegedly offering to destroy evidence in a murder case - will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Meanwhile‚ in a separate case‚ a police officer will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Monday in connection with the death of two taxi bosses.

“The arrest of a police officer follows the killing of two taxi associations’ chairpersons on Thursday in Lenasia South and Roodepoort‚” said Dlamini.

“Following the shooting incident in Roodepoort‚ police followed information of a getaway vehicle and arrested a police officer and another at Impala Road in Protea.

“Two firearms including a service pistol were seized during an arrest. A getaway vehicle‚ of which the police officer was the driver‚ was impounded.”
