The search for a 25-year-old Durban man‚ who went missing while swimming at an Umhlanga beach at the weekend‚ resumed at first light on Monday.

Medics and police divers rushed to Eastmore Beach‚ north of Durban‚ after Tyrone Moonsoor disappeared beneath the surf.

It is understood he had been at the beach with friends when he took to the water at the unguarded beach.

Moonsoor got into distress and disappeared beneath the water. His friends called the police.

The search team on Sunday conducted shoreline searches and‚ using boats‚ scoured the backline until sunset.
