Two members of Community Medics, a free emergency medical service that operates in the Cape Town area, delivered a baby girl at the Table View Police Station this week.

Kevin Jones, CEO of Community Medics, and Fabio Moreira, an advanced life support paramedic who volunteers for Community Medics, responded to a call at 10am on Thursday. They helped to safely deliver the baby girl.

“Mom and baby have been transported to hospital and are doing well,” they said.

Community Medics is funded by donations from communities in which it operates.

The organisation responds to an average of 5,000 calls a year, many of which are medical emergencies.
