The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) has called for the swift arrest of four men who fatally shot one person and wounded another in an apparent robbery at a mosque in Khayelitsha, Cape Town.
MJC spokesperson Mishka Davies said on Friday that the organisation was "deeply disturbed at the tragic incident" that unfolded at the mosque on Tuesday.
"To our understanding, Brother Yusuf Andile Silwana was busy with maintenance on his car inside the mosque’s boundary when he was approached by four males with the intent of stealing from him," said Davies in a statement.
"Brother Yusuf got into a verbal argument with the men. One of them pulled out a gun and shot at point-blank range. Another congregant was hurt in the incident and taken to hospital."
