WATCH | Popular Bloemfontein eatery gutted by fire

A popular restaurant and club in Bloemfontein, the Cubana, has been gutted by fire, local radio station reported this morning.

OFM News said it had learnt that an explosion inside the venue might have triggered the blaze.

Radio and TV presenter Johrné van Hussteen shared a short clip of the fire on his Twitter account.

The Bloemfontein Courant said that according to eyewitnesses the fire spread quickly. When the Mangaung Metro’s fire department arrived at the scene, there was already nothing left of the building, it said.

The restaurant was situated in Second Avenue in the suburb of Westdene.

The cause of the blaze is still not known.
