At least 40 children were involved in an early morning crash in Diepsloot, Johannesburg, on Monday, while on their way to school.
Emer-G-Med chief operating officer Jurgen Kotze said a school bus and a truck collided on the R114 and R511 at 6.50am.
“One critically injured child has been airlifted to hospital via Netcare 2, a specialised helicopter ambulance. Thirty seven patients have been treated for a number of injuries, including fractures and burns.”
Kotze said emergency teams were still working to extract an injured patient from the truck.
The cause of the incident is still unknown and the scene is still active.
