One dead, 32 injured in road accident

One person died and 32 were injured when a minibus taxi and two cars collided in Diepsloot, Johannesburg, on Thursday afternoon.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the crash occurred at the intersection of the R511 and the N14.

“ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene at 1.03pm to find the minibus on the side of the road, while the two-light motor vehicles were found in the right-hand lane. Several people were found scattered around the scene.”

Paramedics assessed a man with several injuries.

“Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.”

Two children were among the 32 injured. The injured were treated on scene before being ferried to hospital.

“The details surrounding the incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
