The search for a man who is presumed to have drowned in the Inanda Dam, west of Durban, at the weekend is expected to continue on Monday.

Specialised police divers spent most of Sunday searching the murky waters after the man went missing in the middle of the night. It is understood that two men had been paddling across the dam in a small boat, which capsized.

Both men were thrown into the water. Only one made to shore and thereafter raised the alarm about his missing friend.

Officers from the police’s search and rescue unit deployed a trained dog to help.

Divers conducted a prolonged operation in the general area before the search was suspended due to deteriorating weather, including  thick mist.
