Energy minister Jeff Radebe rushed to hospital for 'health emergency'

Energy minister Jeff Radebe was admitted to hospital on Wednesday, parliamentary speaker Baleka Mbete confirmed.

Mbete told parliament Radebe was taken for treatment in "an emergency due to ill health".

Radebe had been scheduled to answer parliamentary questions in the national assembly.

The department of energy could not immediately confirm the information.
