Police in the small town of Babanago in northern KwaZulu-Natal are investigating a case of double murder and house robbery.

According to police spokesperson Capt Nqobile Gwala, a 39-year-old man and 30-year-old woman sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their heads and bodies in what was suspected to be a botched house robbery.

"Ntokozo Sithole and Nhlanhla Sangweni were gunned down at a home in Babanago at about 6.15pm on Wednesday," said Gwala.

No arrests have been made.

"Two cases of murder and a case of house robbery have been opened at the Babanago police station after a vehicle was also stolen from the premises," she said.
