WATCH | How to deal with people who litter, according to the City of Joburg
A video by the City of Joburg on how to deal with people who litter is doing the rounds - and Twitter isn't quite sure what to make of it.
The video was posted on the city's Twitter account after the latest phase of the monthly A Re Sebetseng (let's work) initiative over the weekend, in which people join the city's employees in cleaning up their communities.
The video shows an Asian municipal worker sweeping the street while the driver of car parked next to him keeps throwing litter on the ground in front of him.
A man then comes to the cleaner's rescue, picking up the litter and throwing it back into the car while the cleaner looks on.

When city officials shared the video as advice for people to fight littering in Joburg, Twitter users found it funny and shared their own encounters of people who throw litter out of cars. Many said they would never take the city's advice, as they feared for their safety confronting strangers on Joburg's streets.
Here are some of the reactions:
Great idea. But this is SA and there would be considerable risk of violent retaliation.

I hoot at people who throw litter out of their car and point at the litter but their hand gestures and verbal responses are very ugly, jirre. I can only dream of doing this. 😔
